There’s something in the water….

So there must be something in the water because right now I have 5 friends who are pregnant. It’s becoming more contagious then the bird flu!! Thank goodness they’re not all due at the same time or I would be going broke on baby gifts. I love children. Don’t have any of my own, but who needs ‘em when alllll your friends will loan you there’s?? I do love shopping for baby gifts. My favorite is to buy several types of blankets, and clothes ofcourse. Target is a good place to register for a baby shower, it seems. Weird that i’m just sitting here talking about baby stuff, sorry, it’s just on the brain. Well if you don’t want children…..don’t drink the water in the Puget Sound, it’s infested!!

Palmer Lake

For all you camping lovers out there, Palmer Lake is the place to go. It is a little spot a few miles south of Canada in Eastern Washington. Tonakset is the closest large town. It is a BEAUTIFUL spot. There is a strip off the main road with about 7 camp sites. It is first come first serve, so go early in the week if you want to get a spot. There is no charge, and there are trailer hook ups. A boat launch sits right in the middle of the strip for those of you who love boating. The lake is clear, warm (enough) and beautiful. Bring the whole family. You can take the boat to the other side of the lake and jump off of a tall rock into the lake. There is a sandy beach where the river meets the lake that is so much fun. The campgrounds themselves have small rock pebbles so you need flip flops most of the time, but it’s great cuz you dont have to deal with as much dirt and sand. Each camp ground has a picnic table, a flat spot for tents and a drive in spot for motor homes and trailers. And yes…. there is a bathroom..a little stinky, but nevertheless, much better then digging your own hole!!! It’s a good fishing spot too. Just dont tell too many of your friends…we don’t want it getting over run with people!! Ha. My family went for five days, and had a blast. We have friends who go for two weeks with all their kids. It’s a great spot. Bring sunscreen if you go in the summer.

Toothache

I recently discovered something that all you who suffer from toothache’s might like to know?? Sinus infections can cause a toothache!! And vise versa, toothache’s can cause a sinus infection. This may seem like gross information to share, but I think anyone who has had a toothache knows how important it is to get to the root of the problem…(ha, get it…root? Anyways) I went to see my dentist yesterday because I was having terrible tooth ache’s every so often. He did x-rays and said I had no nerve damage or cavities in the areas where it was hurting. So he asked if i’ve had sinus problems lately? I have, so he prescribed an anti-biotic to clear up my sinus infection and said my tooth pain should go away!!! Interesting, huh? He also had me buy a product called XClear. It’s a saline nasal spray with Xylitol. It is suppose to clear up sinus infections, lickity split, without taking any drugs. I’ll let you know how it works!! Just FYI.

Kiana Lodge

Kiana Lodge is the name of a beautiful lodge in Poulsbo, Washington. I recently attended a wedding reception there, and it was without a doubt the most elegant wedding reception I have ever attended. It is located right on the water overlooking Bainbridge Island, with a view of the bridge. There is a boardwalk along the water lined with flowers, a pond, and the grounds are lush and gorgeous. Live classical music played outside as we meandered in the garden with wine and appetizers. The indoor seating arrangemnt was layed out with flowers, crystals hanging from the rafters, a wall of twinkle lights behind the bride and grooms table. We were served a bottle of wine at each table and a three course meal, that included an organic salad, homemade pasta with pesto, and the main course I chose was salmon. It was delicious. The service was fast and pleasant. The music made us dance the night away. I would highly reccomend this venue to anyone looking to get married. Although I do believe you get what you pay for, so save your pennies………you’re going to need them to rent this place.
Enjoy the weekend!!

Hale’s Brewery

Well I was excited that we have a brand new restaurant in town…Hales Brewery & Restaurant. It’s pretty slim pickins in our town for good food, so when we saw this place “coming soon”, I was excited. However the first time I ate there I was sorley disappointed. I went with a girlfriend. We split nachos for appetizer then both ordered salads. The nachos were ehhh! The salads were okay, but our bill came to like $50.00. That just seemed expensive for salads and water!!! And our waitress was a dingbat. She kept acting like she was looking for a way out of the restaurant…looking around, very spacey and weird. But I do know that it can take a while to get a new restaurant running smoothly, so I vowed to give it another try. I have yet to go back, but my brother went last week and he said he had the best burger EVER. His waitor was awesome and knowledgable, and he got a beer paired perfectly with his burger. So maybe it’s just a burger kind of place and I should 86 the salads?? So if you decide to go…try the blue burger…it has blue cheese on it. I plan to try it soon. Enjoy!!

Lake Tapps

What a beautiful week we are having here in the Northwest!! It was 90 degrees yesterday and a perfect day for a boat ride. Which is exactly what I did. Some friends have a boat and live on Lake Tapps, so we cruised the lake. The water was chilly, but felt great. I love swimming in lakes, although I do get the occasional scary feeling that something big and mean is swimming underneath my legs….but that doesn’t stop me. Lake Tapps is a really nice lake to spend the day on. It’s huge!! There is a little area towards the back where the water is super calm, and there are less people, and jet skies and stuff. And there is a rope swing with a couple different spots to jump off of. On the far end of the lake you can pull your boat up to a restaurant and grab a burger or something. I must warn you though…the service is terrible! Just FYI. Enjoy this sun….while it lasts!!! Tootles.

Aquarius

Aquarius is the name of a camp site that I recently visited with my husband and all his family. It is located near North Folk River in Idaho. It is a beautiful spot, if you enjoy fishing, camping, hiking, anything of that sort. There are camp sites right on the river, although I must warn you, the water comes from a glacier….IT IS FREEZING. The coldest water i’ve ever swam in. Well swam isn’t the right adjective, more like dunk and screamed!! You cant stay in it for more then a few seconds at a time. There is a great spot right off the highway with a huge rock to jump off of (if you like that sort of thing). We didn’t this year because the river was just too high and fast. But there is a nice beach next to the rock for relaxing on the river. Don’t tell too many people about the spot…it’s our little secret.

Al Boccalino

Al Boccalino…ahh when I speak those words, I can just taste the salmon, cooked in white whine with lemon, capers, cherry tomatoes, and fresh spinach. Yummo!!! That’s what I had at the wonderful italian restaurant in Seattle called Al Boccalino. It is located like two minutes from the ferry, in this little whole in the wall place with about ten tables. Very easy, casual atmosphere, but still romantic and sophisticated. There was one waitress working, which didn’t appear to be a problem, because no one seemed to be in a hurry to leave. We even caught her drinking a glass of wine in between serving us!! Ha. Now that’s the kind of job i’m talking about!!! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for good italian. They even make their own pasta!! The waitress even gave us champagne on the house, because our friends had just got engaged, that evening. Pretty sweet!
